This piece is me breaking free from the social constructs that define our existence. More unfortunate than not, our circumstances are what tells the world who we are and not how we make people feel.

The image is a juxtaposition to that notion. I define myself as a human on this earth. And, I define myself as a woman in love with the hurt. All the while the image of myself is hiding by my arm which reveals my equality sign tattoo, combined with the growing texts in the background. It all represents the action of being true to who you are while not allowing society to define that by your circumstances.

I own the fact that I am a lesbian woman and that I am just one person in the sea called humanity. Those identities LIBERATE me. Yet, I shy away from those things being the only things that define who I am.
